The daily purpose of life is to reach my potential.
we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us

I'm looking at the problem this way, but is there another way of looking at it?
Perhaps the most important feature of a beautiful mind is the ability to extract interest out of any subject confronted. This is done by a combination of listening, questioning and speculating. Try it, it requires only patience and willingness to subjugate one's own ego.
Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.
At any point in time, the current Chinese year has absolutely no bearing on your life.

"self-pity" quotes:
"Self-pity in its early stages is as snug as a feather mattress. Only when it hardens does it become uncomfortable." Maya Angelou quotes (American poet, b.1928)
"Fear is a habit; so is self-pity, defeat, anxiety, despair, hopelessness and resignation. You can eliminate all of these negative habits with two simple resolves: I can!! and I will!!"
"Accept fate, and move on. Don't yield to the seductive pull of self-pity. Acting like a victim threatens your future."
"Self-pity will parch your attitudes, it will paralyze your abilities, and it will put off your achievements. It prohibits excellence and prevents expansion."
"Self-pity is our worst enemy and if we yield to it, we can never do anything wise in this world." Helen Keller quotes (American author and educator who was blind and deaf. 1880-1968)
"Self-pity is like sitting there and peeing your pants: at first, it's warm and comfy, but pretty soon it gets cold and then it starts to stink."
"It is only a step from boredom to disillusionment, which leads naturally to self-pity, which in turn ends in chaos. " Manly Hall (1901 - 1990) Canadian philosopher, author In "Wisdom of the Ages at Your Fingertips," MCR software, 1995.
Self-pity (Eugene H. Peterson -- 27 September 2004):
Pity is one of the noblest emotions available to human beings; self-pity is possibly the most ignoble . . . . [It] is an incapacity, a crippling emotional disease that severely distorts our perception of reality . . . a narcotic that leaves its addicts wasted and derelict.

Dale Carnegie : Do the hard jobs first. The easy jobs will take care of themselves
Ray Kroc : The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves

The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things.— Henry Ward Beecher
Happiness is not having what you want. It is wanting what you have. – Unknown
You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.— Albert Camus
It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.--Agnes Repplier
If we try hard to bring happiness to others, we cannot stop it from coming to us also. To get joy, we must give it, and to keep joy, we must scatter it. --John Templeton
The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. --Allan K. Chalmers

The world needs big people, people who are generous, principled, committed, and open to thinking and acting in new ways to solve problems and seize opportunities. The world also needs big ideas, ideas that will really make a difference, ideas that will generate breakthroughs, ideas that will provoke paradigm shifts. We have big problems and we need big solutions. We need people who can see a better world beyond the status quo.
But big men and women with big minds are threatening to small men and women with small minds. A "small person" is not a person who has a low position or title, or little money or education. What makes a person "small" is simply that he/she sees life in very small terms. A small person doesn't see very far beyond his own life, his own organization, his own place and time. He has usually mastered his daily routine and doesn't want it to change. He thus clings to the way things have always been, and feels more comfortable when things are nailed down and categorized. He doesn't want to talk about how things might be better, because then things would be different and he doesn't want to try anything new. One thing is certain; A small person with small ideas won't lead us to new levels of excellence or an improved quality of life.

Witty Words of Wisdom
Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.
Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it..
Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.
If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
Never buy a car you can't push.
Never eat yellow snow.
Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you don't have a leg to stand on.
There are very few personal problems that cannot be solved through a suitable application of high explosives.
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
Be nice to the nerds and geeks in high school -- you'll be working for them in the future.

Too many people are married to their misery. It actually becomes such a part of their identity that they can't release themselves from it. In truth, this is one "divorce" that they all should look forward to... (-JA)
